Due to the nature of the award\, repeat winners would not be encouraged.\n\n\nThe Ed Sells Heart & Soul Award (Sable Gordon)\n\nThis award was created by and will be paid for and presented by Queen Mother Sable Gordon annually to the person or organization that embodies the qualities in the award’s title. DESCRIPTION:We mourn with this community grieving the sudden loss of a Colorado Springs’ legend who was so loved by so many. She will never be forgotten.\n\nThis Saturday night we hope to ease the burden on her family by raising funds to cover funeral expenses as well as other familial needs. My sister-in-law\, Niquita passed away suddenly and unexpectedly\, leaving behind her 4-year-old son\, CJ\, and her loving partner\, Kyle.\n\nNiquita was a devoted mother whose world revolved around CJ\, a bright and sweet little boy with autism. Her love\, patience\, and dedication to him were unmatched. Now\, without her\, Kyle is facing the heartbreaking task of navigating life as a single parent while managing the emotional and financial challenges that come with such a sudden loss.\n\nThis fundraiser is to help ease the immediate financial burdens—funeral expenses\, daily living costs\, childcare\, therapy\, and the many needs that CJ will have as he grows. Losing Niquita so young was something none of us could have prepared for\, and the road ahead will be incredibly difficult for both Kyle and CJ.\n\nIf you are able\, please consider donating to help give CJ and Kyle stability during this devastating time. DESCRIPTION:The Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education is considering two dangerous and discriminatory — possibly even illegal — policies —IMD and JBA — that directly target LGBTQ+ students and staff.\nPolicy IMD would ban all flags and symbols on school property except for American\, Colorado\, military\, and academic flags—effectively erasing Pride flags\, stickers\, and inclusive signage that let LGBTQ+ students know they are seen and supported.\nPolicy JBA would bar transgender students from participating in sports and using locker rooms that align with their gender identity—stripping them of their dignity and right to belong.\nThese policies were sent to legal counsel on May 22. The Board will discuss them again on June 4. If no major legal concerns are raised and the board so chooses\, a final vote is scheduled for June 11.\nJune 4 also marks the first Wednesday of Pride Month—a powerful moment to stand in peaceful protest and solidarity. Using umbrellas to create a visual barrier\, we guide families past harmful messages from groups like Proud Boys\, Patriot Front Blood Tribe\, GAG and Westboro Baptist Church. For the youngest\, we provide noise-canceling ear protection to block the hateful slurs often yelled through bullhorns. Our mission is to ensure that children can walk through their communities with dignity\, protected from the hate that seeks to harm them.\nOn Friday\, 5/09/2025\, please join us at the Pearl in Denver for “Seeds of Resistance” A Fundraiser Drag Variety Show benefitting The Parasol Patrol. DESCRIPTION:Greetings UCPPE Members!\n\nHappy almost Easter! Things are warming up!!!!\n\nReminder of the Special General membership meeting that will be held April 27th at 3:00pm at The Retro Lounge (formally The Q) in the Satellite Hotel.\n\nAgenda is attached.\n\nSome have mixed feelings about hosting events and meetings at what seems to be the same place all the time. I want to clarify some things on that. We\, as in the BOAs and the Reign has and continue to have events at various venues. There are multiple reasons why this has not been successful: UCPPE members speaking ill on the organization to the management or owner\, leading them to not want to continue doing business with us; UCPPE members conducting in poor behavior in these spaces; lack of participation in turn giving the venue a profit. If we work together we can expand. We have policies in place to deal with certain individuals\, please do not blame the entire organization causing venues to not want to do business with us\, then turn around and complain that everything is at the same place…………………….……………. I mean……………………..……….. if you have an issue\, there are protocols in place\, please try that first.\n\nWe as the oldest and longest ran LGBTQIA+ non-profit organization should seek out a “Gay owned” venue as a home bar\, while branching out to others throughout southern Colorado to host events and support our small owned businesses. Home bar\, meaning\, where we primarily hold meetings and some shows. Other shows and events should be held throughout our region. Some venues expect a bar minimum\, some expect a reservation fee. We\, as a non-profit with no income need to book at venues that are free of charge\, unless we have more participation to pay these expenses\, free spaces are hard to come by. We had a great idea for Bar K\, but we are not welcome there because of false accusations on the entire organization was made. Hince\, we’re no longer there. We cannot seem to behave in a CHURCH!!!!!!!!! So you tell me where to go…..\n\nTheir Majesties will be sending out upcoming events soon. Black and White Ball will be a $1500 fee to use the space.\n\nIf anyone has ideas for a venue with low cost to no cost for events\, by all means\, reach out.\n\nWe have a new Corresponding Secretary\, and a new Princess Royal. We still have Recording Secretary\, Membership Chair\, Public Relations and Games Manager vacant.\n\nPridefest is June 14 and 15 for Colorado Springs. We have a booth and a space in the parade this year! Anyone interested in being apart of this fun time\, get with their Majesties. Our June 10th BOA meeting would be a good meeting to attend as we will extensively go into Pridefest.\n\nFood for thought or Rhetorical question: What do you want out of this organization\, and how do you propose we get there?\n\nWe are geared up and ready for a fun reign leading to a fabulous and fun 50th Coronation!!
